John & Becky’s Movie Review of The Roommate

Becky and I went to see The Roommate a couple weeks ago at the AMC Theaters in Highlands Ranch, CO with our friends Rod & Kimberly. The Fandango website at The Roommate describes the movie as follows:

“An emotionally unstable college freshman (Leighton Meester) grows obsessed with her unsuspecting roommate in Danish director Christian E. Christiansen’s English-language debut…”

The Review
The Roommate is a film about a woman who goes to college and gets an insane roommate who is infatuated with her friendship. Before you know it the psychopath is murdering people and trying to control the life of the main character. There are a few parts that will make you jump.

However, this movie wasn’t done very well. The college girls were played by women who were too old for the parts. The characters were not very believable. The story was like a remake of the film “Single White Female” targeted to a new audience that wouldn’t have seen that film before.

It’s a good rental at best. We all felt that it just wasn’t that great of a flick.

John & Becky’s Movie Review of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Becky and I took Bianca to see Justin Bieber: Never Say Never last week the AMC Theaters in Highlands Ranch, CO. The Fandango website at Justin Bieber: Never Say Never describes the movie as follows:

“Singing sensation Justin Bieber prepares to dazzle the crowd at a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden. Legions of adoring fans scream as he takes center stage for a memorable night of music. Concert footage mixes with home videos of Justin playing drums and showcasing his talent at a young age…”

The Review
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never is a documentary about the rise to fame of pop star Justin Bieber. Our daughter Bianca wanted to see this movie and I took her to go and see it. Becky wanted to see it and crashed our party.

This movie was really well done. I didn’t think we would like it, but it was really fascinating to see how Justin Bieber went from being a kid in Canada to a global superstar using the power of social media with Twitter and Facebook. The music was actually really good with stars like Miley Cyrus and others coming on the stage to perform with Justin. He’s a neat kid and if he stays out of trouble could be the next Michael Jackson based on the enormous fan base.

What was really fun about the film was watching the girls in the film and in the theater go unbelievably nuts. We all though it was a good time and very entertaining.

John & Becky’s Movie Review of The Eagle

Becky and I went to see The Eagle last night the AMC Theaters in Castle Rock, CO. The Fandango website at The Eagle describes the movie as follows:

“A Roman epic adventure, based on the classic novel of the same name, set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth…”

The Review
The Eagle is an action flick starring Channing Tatum as the new Commander in the ancient Roman army. He has been assigned to the Northern territory of Scotland and the people there hate the Romans and want to kill them.   He is on a personal quest to reclaim a golden eagle that was lost by his father’s legion twenty years earlier.

The movie has plenty of action. There are a few disturbing parts in the movie, but overall it’s very well done. The cinematography is really good, but the story is really simple. There isn’t much to the movie, but the action is exciting.

Becky and I both liked The Eagle and thought it was worth the price of admission.

John & Becky’s Movie Review of I Am Number Four

Becky and I went to see I Am Number Four this weekend at the AMC Theaters in Castle Rock, CO. The Fandango website at I Am Number Four describes the movie as follows:

“Three are dead. He is Number Four. D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye,” “Disturbia”) helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events…”

The Review
I Am Number Four is a science fiction flick about space aliens that are looking to take over planet Earth, but there are other space aliens living among us, who are ready to defend our world. It’s kind of a fun movie, if you like science fiction and alien flicks, with some interesting characters and situations. Plenty of action as well.

Becky doesn’t like these movies at all, so she hated this one. In fact, we walked out of the movie and she spotted the Big Momma movie next door to our theater, she said, “I would have rather saw Big Momma.”. Needless to say, she wasn’t in the least bit entertained by I Am Number Four.

I thought it was a pretty good flick overall, but it’s a bit of a teenager film. It had some “SuperMan” type elements with an alien teenager, who is discovering his super powers and fighting against evil. I can’t say it was a great flick, but it’s a good rental for sure. Becky will be happy if she never sees it again.
