John & Becky’s Movie Review Of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Becky and I went to see the new movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri at the AMC theater in Highlands Ranch, CO this evening with our 17 year old son Corban.

The Yahoo Movies website describes it as follows:  In this darkly comic drama, a mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter’s murder, when they fail to catch the culprit.

The Review: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a quirky film that has a few good laughs, but it’s actually really dark and depressing about a woman who’s daughter has been murdered and the murderer has gotten away.

The woman played by Frances McDormand has gone pretty crazy since the passing of her daughter and is disgusted that the police have not found her daughter’s killer.  She decides to put up three billboards to bring attention to the fact that her daughter’s case has not been solved by the police yet.

The premise for the movie is pretty good and the acting is good, but the story really goes no where.  It’s really boring and instead of having a beginning, a middle and an end the film takes you on a journey of a beginning, a middle and a middle with an ending that really sucks and just leaves you hanging.

Becky liked the movie, but Corban and I found it to be a waste of time.  Corban thought it was a Don’t Bother and I would rate it as a Rental.

John – ** Rental
Becky – *** Worth The Trip

Corban – * Don’t Bother
