John & Becky's Movie Review of Traitor

TraitorBecky and I went to see Traitor on Sunday night at the Regal theaters, in Lone Tree, CO with our friends Rod and Kimberly. The MSN movie website at Traitor

Look, Up in the Sky: The Amazing Story of Superman describes the movie as follows:

“An undercover CIA agent within a terrorist cell is marked as a terrorist suspect by the FBI in Overture Films’ upcoming thriller Traitor. Don Cheadle produces and stars in the film as the operative under Guy Pearce’s investigation. Based on an idea by Steve Martin, the film is written and directed by Day After Tomorrow screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide”

The Review
Traitor has a great actor, Don Cheadle, as the main character in this movie, with what could be a really interesting story about terrorist recruitment and being a Muslim in a radical world at war. The movie started out keeping your interest, but it starts getting boring after a while. It’s really a mixed bag. Some people will really like this film, but the four of us expected more bang for the buck.

Goblin Network AdWe were expecting something more like The Bourne Identity, but Traitor didn’t have much to offer in the way of intense action or the “wow” factor. It moved really slow and tried to have a message about being a Muslim that made it seem like every radical member of Islam is being coerced into their crazy ideology. There were some parts that were done really well.

It just wasn’t believable with one guy in the CIA as the mastermind of the undercover operation with no checks and balances whatsoever. In fairness to Don Cheadle, he was very good in the film, but the Director missed the boat on this one for sure. The movie jumps around and makes little sense, but the ending was pretty cool in how the main character overcomes the hopeless situation he finds himself. It will make a good rental, but we didn’t think it was worth the price of admission. Becky really didn’t like it and I thought it was okay.
