Becky and I went to see the new movie Twilight at the Kerasotes theaters in Castle Rock, CO last week. Fandango website at Twilight describes the movie as follows.
TWILIGHT is an action-packed, modern-day love story between a teen girl and a vampire. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never fitting in with the girls at her school. When Bella is sent to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met.
Twilight is a good teenie bopper flick about a young girl who falls in love with a teengage vampire at her high school. It was a good movie for the genre, but be prepared for a theater full of teenage girls texting all their friends.
It’s more of a love story than anything and even though it’s about vampires there isn’t any gore, which was nice. I don’t even think there was any swearing. If you’ve read the book you will obviously want to see it, but if you haven’t you might want to wait for the rental.
It’s not that it’s a bad film. It’s geared toward a teenage audience, it’s pretty predictable and I thought it was incredibly stupid on a number of levels, but I still enjoyed it. It was done well enough that Becky and I both liked it and it was interesting since the vampire teenager has fallen in love with what is normally on the menu. It’s definitely different and that’s probably what we both liked about it. I was close to rating it a rental, but I would have to go one up and give it a Worth The Trip for the entertainment value.
