Becky and I took the kids to see a sneak preview of “Zathura” last night. The Fandango Website at http://www.fandango.com/MoviePage.aspx?mid=86992&source=bm_title describes the movie as follows:
“Two brothers discover an abandoned board game in the park. The boys take the game home, and one of them opens the box while they are watching television. The box contains a jungle and space adventure playing board, and when a small green card pops up warning the boys of a meteor attack, the two have no idea they are in for the adventure of a lifetime.”
The Review
I really liked this movie and so did our boys Conroy and Corban. Becky and Bianca didn’t like it very much. Bianca was scared and she was probably too little for this film. Becky didn’t like the science fiction element of the film or the fact that it was rated PG and the language was a bit rough at three different times. For example, one of the kids calls his brother a deragatory name that you would expect in a PG-13 movie.
It’s a lot like the movie “Jumanji”, which was also rated PG, but it’s probably a bit more scary with the alien monsters. It was a great movie that the boys and I should have gone to and left the girls at home.
