John & Becky’s Movie Review of The Proposal

theproposal Becky and I went to see a sneak preview of the movie The Proposal last week with our friends Rod and Kimberly Tactaquin at the Regal Cinema’s in Lone Tree, CO. The Rotten Tomatoes website at The Proposal describes the movie as follows:

“When high-powered book editor Margaret (SANDRA BULLOCK) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she’s actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (RYAN REYNOLDS), who she’s tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own…”

The Review
The Proposal is a very funny movie about a guy who wants to be a writer and is working for the boss from Hell. It stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds and they have great chemistry together in this film that has plenty of laughs. The Proposal comes out this Friday and it’s a great date night film and a very well done romantic comedy.

Goblin Network Ad We all liked The Proposal and thought it was a really well done movie. Many of the funny parts of the film are situation based rather than just “one liner’s”, but there are a few lines in the movie that are funny as well. Amazingly enough there were not any gay scenes in this movie, which is practically impossible for Hollywood to do anymore when making a comedy. The language was also tolerable for a change as well.

Becky and I both liked this movie and would recommend seeing it at the theater. It was worth the price of admission and Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds do a great job playing these characters. Rod and Kimberly gave it a Worth The Trip as well.

John &amp;amp;amp;amp; Becky&amp;amp;amp;#039;s Movie Review Of The Taking Of Pelham 123

Becky and I went to a charity event tonight over near the Landmark Theater with our friend Walt Oleski and after going to the function we couldn’t resist going to catch a movie. There’s a surprise, eh? We went to see the new movie, The Taking of Pelham 123 at the Landmark theater in Englewood, CO. The Fandango website at The Taking of Pelham 123 describes the movie as follows:

“A group of hijackers take a subway train and its passengers hostage, threatening to kill them if their ransom is not paid of 1 million dollars.”

The Review Sweet Land film

The Taking of Pelham 123 is a movie about a group of terrorists who take over a subway car and hold it for ransom for ten million dollars. The entire movie is about this event and not about anything else. It’s a remake of an older film from 1974 with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw, which I’m going to want to see because I think it will be much better than this one.

Don’t get me wrong, the acting in this flick was phenomenal. John Travolta proves that he can play a woman or a terrorist and he was amazing in this role as a whack job. You don’t like his character at all since he is a very evil dude.

Goblin Network Ad The story was somewhat interesting, but you never get attached emotionally to the characters and the language is harsh. The language is so bad that it distracts from the film. By the end of the movie you’re not really feeling like you watched a great action movie or thriller, but you’re glad that it’s over. It’s just not fun and really pretty pointless.

Becky and I both didn’t like it that much. We thought it was at best a rental, but probably more like a Don’t Bother. The acting is the only thing this movie has going for it and as good as it is with Denzel Washington and John Travolta, they just can’t carry the movie.

describes the movie as follows:

Until one day when a very special tourist, Irv Gordon (Richard Dreyfuss), shows her how to have fun and take a good look at the last person she’d ever expect to find love with…her quiet and sexy Greek bus driver…”

The Review
My Life In Ruins

stars the woman, Nia Vardalos, from the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but she’s not fat anymore. She is pretty funny though and in this movie she is in Greece and trying to figure out her life where she falls in love.

This is a cute film and for the most part a really clean cut movie. I don’t think that it’s a great flick that you should run out and see at the box office, but it will make a good rental. There are quite a few funny parts in this movie and it’s definitely a chick flick.

Becky thought it was a rental too, but we both enjoyed it, except for a couple goofball teenagers that sat down by us. The 17 year old genius started calling his buddies during the movie and this is definitely not a kids movie. They won’t like it. It’s one to put on your list for a trip to RedBox.

The Review

Land of the Lost Justice League: The New Frontier divx is a remake of the Saturday morning show from the 70’s that I used to watch as a kid growing up, along with Sigmund the Sea Monster, so I was expecting a kid’s show. I guess I was wrong since this was rated PG-13 and lived up to its rating. It was totally inappropriate for kids under 17 for that matter, which is what our kids told us after the film. This movie was terrible on a number of levels.

buy Cutthroat Island The audience was filled with kids, after all, who else is going to go see this movie other than parents with their kids? Before you know it they were showing coffee cups with boobs on them, grabbing their crotch, swearing and I guess they even used the F word when I went to the concession stand.

We should have got up and left and we almost did, but it was too late once we were there – the damage had been done. I wouldn’t recommend this movie for anyone. Adults won’t find the humor funny and kids will find it offensive. Will Ferrell has proved that he is totally out of touch with reality, along with the rating’s system that think it’s okay for the F word to appear in PG-13 movies now.

The best thing about this movie was the Previews and the movie poster. I don’t know who they are going to reach with this film, but don’t waste your time or money on this one and whatever you do, don’t bring your kids.

thehangover I had to skip going to the Steamboat Marathon this weekend after getting bronchitis this week, so Becky and I escaped to see the new movie, The Hangover

today. The Fandango website at The Hangover describes the movie as follows:

“Two days before his wedding, Doug and three friends drive to Las Vegas for a wild and memorable stag party. In fact, when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning, they can’t remember a thing; nor can they find Doug. With little time to spare , the three hazy pals try to re-trace their steps and find Doug so they can get him back to Los Angeles in time to walk down the aisle…”

The Review
The Hangover is totally hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing from the beginning to the end of the movie. Maybe because I kept thinking, “I know these guys. I grew up with these guys and I work with some of these guys”. Be forewarned, this movie will be offensive to a number of people, especially if you get offended by harsh language. The language is pretty rough at times, it’s definitely Rated R for the language and adult situations. It takes place in Las Vegas, so what do you expect? Just be prepared when you go into the theater.

Goblin Network Ad The story is a total riot and the casting was perfect for the situations that these guys find themselves in the film. After getting totally wasted and finding themselves passed out in their hotel room they have to try to figure out what has happened to their friend Doug, who is supposed to be getting married in Los Angeles the next day. It was obviously an insane bachelor party gone wild and the chemistry with these guys and their personalities make for a very funny movie.

Becky is probably embarrassed to admit that she liked it too and many people will ask me how I could possibly like this flick, but if you can lighten up, enjoy the ride – it’s a crackup. I thought it was incredibly funny and I’m sticking to it.

The Replacement Killers the movie website at UP describes the movie as follows:

The Review
UP is the latest and greatest Disney and Pixar cartoon that is a great story about an old man, a life he thought he never lived and a young boy. They go on this amazing adventure and discover a great deal about their lives and one another.

The story is really fun and parts of it are touching with plenty of action and excitement. However, many of the smaller kids in the audience were bored out of their heads, so be forewarned that it’s probably for kids in Elementary school to keep their interest.

We all really enjoyed UP and thought it was a great film with a very good message and plenty of fun for the entire family. I really liked the way the story deals with getting old and not losing site of the important things in life, especially people. There is a pretty funny “short” film at the beginning about a stork and a thunder cloud, so you’ll want to get there early enough to see it at the beginning.

on Sunday at the AMC theaters in Highlands Ranch, CO. The Yahoo Movie website at Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian describes the movie as follows:

“Ben Stiller returns to the role of night watchman Larry Daly in this sequel to the 2006 family film NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. This adventure takes the action to Washington D.C, where things at the Smithsonian aren’t quite as quiet as one might think…”

The Review The Corruptor movie full
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is the new sequel to the first movie with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson and it’s not as good as the first. The story is different with Ben Stiller having a successful career outside of the museum, but the museum is in trouble once again and needs the night guard to come to its rescue.

As the characters unfold in this one, there are new historical faces that we are introduced to, but the story is really disjointed. Too many of the characters from the past know what’s going on in the present, which made no sense. It’s definitely a kids film and our kids thought it was great.

In fact, all three of our kids said this new version was a Don’t Miss It, but Becky and I both thought it was a rental at best. If you’re going to see it, you may want to go to AMC before 12PM on a Saturday or Sunday for their weekend rate of $6 before Noon, so you can save some money. In the end, I think this film was just way too much like the first film and there just wasn’t enough new material to make it worth the price of admission.

John & Becky’s Movie Review Of Terminator Salvation

this Friday. The Fandango website at Terminator Salvation describes the movie as follows:

“In the fourth installment of the Terminator series, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the eventual leader of mankind’s fight againts the machines. The setting is 2018, focusing on the war between the humans and the computer network Skynet. The Review
Terminator Salvation is the latest installment of the John Connor and Sarah Connor Terminator movies. This one takes place after Judgement Day, kind of like the video game, if you’ve ever played that where the characters are running around shooting the Terminators and trying to stay alive. The film stars Christian Bale as John Connor and he does a great job, but the guy who steals the show is Sam Worthington as a futuristic Terminator from the past, Marcus Wright.

Marcus is a convicted murderer who has been sentenced to death, but is part of a future technology that eventually helped create the Terminators. It’s really goofy and disjointed, but the characters are pretty well done. There is plenty of heart pounding action in this movie, but it’s way more Science Fiction than any of the previous versions and the plot kind of stinks. It had an Escape from New York edge to it, since it’s futuristic and the characters are trying to get away from the bad guys, but are sort of bad guys themselves. It’s an exciting film for sure and most people really liked it.

Becky didn’t like it at all, she thought it was a waste of time and didn’t like the whole guy from the future, guy from the past, living in the present, father and son element of the flick. I liked the original Terminator film and even the sequels were more interesting than this one because the stories were cool. This one was really boring and the ending was extremely stupid. Apparently, some difficult medical procedures are going to be really easy in the future when people are being attacked by monster technologically advanced super machines.

The film kind of lost me since it was not even close to realistic or believable. Not that the others were, but at least they made an attempt where this one was pure special effects and action. I think it will make for a great rental. The music is really cool and the special effects are fantastic.

John &amp;amp; Becky&amp;#039;s Movie Review Of Obsessed

I finally got around to writing a review of the movie Obsessed that Becky and I saw on opening night down in Tucson, AZ. The Fandango website at Obsessed describes the movie as follows:

“Derek Charles (Idris Elba), a successful asset manager who has just received a huge promotion, is blissfully happy in his career and in his marriage to the beautiful Sharon (Beyoncé Knowles). But when Lisa (Ali Larter), a temp worker, starts stalking Derek, all the things he’s worked so hard for are placed in jeopardy…”

Obsessed is a modern and updated version of the 1980’s film Fatal Attraction with Michael Douglas and Glenn Close with a few twists. This time, the obsessed white woman has fallen for a successful black man who happens to be married to the beautiful Beyonce.

The film has a great plot, but it was very predictable and the acting wasn’t terrible, however it wasn’t great either. There was just something about this film that wasn’t overly exciting. There are a few plot twists and it wasn’t a bad movie, but it wasn’t great either. I think I was more excited about it from the previews than what it delivered.

Obsessed is definitely a thriller, but it’s a bit strange because of the motivation of the characters. It didn’t make a great deal of sense at times that this woman would be totally obsessed with someone she couldn’t have since he continues to shut her down. In the movie Fatal Attraction, Michael Douglas character was intimate with the woman who became infatuated with him based on physical and emotional motivation, but in this case it was harder to believe.

Inspite of its shortcomings we both enjoyed the film, but I thought it was a Rental and Becky thought it was Worth The Trip.

John & Becky’s Movie Review Of Angels & Demons

angelsdemons Becky and I went to see Angels & Demonslast night at the AMC theaters in Highlands Ranch, CO. The Fandango website at Angels & Demons describes the movie as follows:

“When Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the illuminati—the most powerful underground organization in history—he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization’s most despised enemy: the Catholic Church…”

The Review
Angels & Demons is a new thriller by Director Ron Howard and features Tom Hanks again in the second installment of the Dan Brown, writer of the DaVinci Code, flicks. I thought the first movie was terrible and rated it a Don’t Bother, along with Becky. The whole idea of a conspiracy by the Roman Catholic Church to cover up that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene was ridiculous and made for a very stupid film. I was amazed so many people liked the book, especially if you know anything about Jesus’ mission to Earth as a Jew, not as a Roman and Church history.

Needless to say, I had really low expectations for this film. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Angels & Demons delivered with plenty of action and suspense as the audience went inside the halls of Catholicism once again to solve a series of murders and cover ups. The story was entertaining as religion and science battled for the minds of the faithful.

The story was pretty wild and it’s very fast paced, but it’s also easy to get lost if you don’t pay close attention. There are a couple parts of the film that are very graphic and a few other scenes that are far fetched, but if you can get past those parts it’s a very well done movie. It’s a bit deep with a bunch of characters and definitely a thinking type thriller.

Becky totally disagreed with me on this one though. She hated it, was totally bored, couldn’t follow the jumping around of the movie and would probably rate it a Don’t Bother, but decided to give it a Rental rating. I guess this means that you’ll either like this movie or totally hate it.
