Becky and I went to see the new movie The Lovely Bones on Friday at the AMC theaters in Highlands Ranch, CO. We’re going to try to go catch The Book of Eli later today, so be on the lookout for that review soon. The Yahoo website at The Lovely Bones describes the movie as follows:
“Susie Salmon, a young girl who has been murdered, watches over her family — and her killer — from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal…”
The Review
The Lovely Bones is a disturbing movie that is based on a book about a little girl who is murdered by her neighbor who is a serial killer during the 1970’s. We saw it on Friday to a packed audience, but there were too many teenagers who were a total distraction during the film.
The Lovely Bones is a great story, but it’s really difficult to watch because the serial killer is obviously sick in the head and has murdered others before as well. It also moves a bit too slow, showing some of the same scenes over and over, like when she takes a picture of her killer. If you have children, this movie will bug you!
I didn’t read the book, but it seemed to focus too much on the serial killer and not enough on the little girl when she was alive. It seemed to move too quickly into solving the murder after her death, but it was still a very good movie.
We liked it, but we wouldn’t say it was a Don’t Miss It. It was definitely Worth The Trip.
