Becky and I went to see “North Country” the other day. The MovieFone Website at North Country describes the movie as follows:
“ The true story of one of America’s first successful sexual harassment lawsuits comes to the screen in this hard-hitting drama. In the late ’70s, Josey Aimes (Charlize Theron) was a single mother after the unhappy breakup of her marriage, and she needed to find a way to support her children. Aimes returned to her hometown in Minnesota and followed the lead of her old friend Glory (Frances McDormand), who had bucked tradition and found a job in the iron mines that had long provided employment for much of the community.”
The Review
Becky and I thought this was a good movie. It jumped around from the courtroom to her growing up in Northern Minnesota to her life as a miner and kept your interest. Of course, we are both from Wisconsin and Minnesota, having lived in the Twin Cities, so we thought that they butchered the accent of the typical Minnesotan, “don’t you know”. However, in spite of the shortcomings in that department the movie had some depth to it and was a good true story. We both thought it was “Worth The Trip”.
