Becky and I finally took the kids to see the movie RV this weekend at the Elvis Cinemas in Lakewood. In Colorado there are dollar movie theaters that you can go and see first run movies after they have been out for a few weeks. Elvis Cinema’s is just $2 per ticket.The Yahoo Movie website at RV describes the movie as follows:
“ An overworked Bob Munro, his wife Jaime, their 15-year-old daughter Cassie and 12-year-old son Carl are in desperate need of some quality time together. After promising to take them on a family vacation in Hawaii, Bob abruptly changes plans without telling them. Instead of a week in a tropical paradise, they’re going on a road trip to Colorado in a recreational vehicle.”
The Review
We waited for RV to hit the dollar theater because we thought it would be as stupid as Benchwarmers, which I just realized was so bad that we never wrote a review on it. We were totally wrong about RV, which was a very funny and entertaining film.
It reminded us of the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase where the family takes a vacation with crazy things happening on a continual basis. In this case, the “family roadster” is a huge RV that the father (Robin Williams) of the Munro family has rented to go to Colorado after cancelling their trip to Hawaii.
As you might expect in a comedy with Robin Williams, there are many absolutely ridiculous situations, but it’s really funny. Becky and I could really identify with the family, especially since our idea of camping is a Holiday Inn. Mrs. Munro tells her husband Bob when he shows up with the RV in the front yard “Bob, we’re not campers. We like to shower.”, which was one of the best lines in the film for us.
Anyway, whether you are campers or not, you and your family should enjoy this flick. It’s a good clean film and nice to see Robin Williams in a fun comedy again.
