Becky and I went to see You Don’t Mess With The Zohan last night at the AMC theaters in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. The Yahoo movies website at You Don’t Mess With The Zohan describes the movie as follows:
“Zohan, an Israeli commando, fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream: becoming a hairstylist in New York. ”
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan is a movie you don’t want to see. Plain and simple, this film was a complete waste of time and money. We knew it was going to be stupid going into the film, we just didn’t realize how stupid it would actually be.
There are a few funny parts, but it’s rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content throughout, language and nudity. Five years ago this movie would be rated R, so I think somebody in Hollywood is greasing the MPAA Rating system with some cash to get a film like this approved as PG-13. Unless you think it’s appropriate for a 13 year old to watch Adam Sandler’s want to have sex with old ladies for half the film.
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan isn’t even worth renting when it comes out on DVD, even if it’s on the $.99 rack. We watched at least 5 people get up and leave this movie and we should have too, but we decided to torture ourselves to the very end.
Adam Sandler would have been better off doing a second Happy Gilmore instead of wasting the studio’s money to make something this terrible. I won’t be going to his next movie until I read some reviews to see if he actually has created something worth the price of admission. All I can figure is that most of the people involved in making this film were doing too many drugs at the time and thought something was funny when it was absurd and put it in for effect. The movie made no sense whatsoever.
